In this video, Patrick Todd (University of Edinburgh) and Derk Pereboom (Cornell University) discuss a complex set of issues regarding the relationship between theistic belief and various different views about “free will”. Does theism require (or perhaps enable) a particular view on the free will problem? And do certain positions on the free will issue require a theistic justification? Finally, could traditional religion make do without the claim that human beings have free will?
